| This impressive large painting of Zebras was inspired from a trip to Lake Nakuru in Kenya a few years back. Mother and foal often stand in protective and affectionate poses such as this and it is always interesting to see how the shapes and patterns of the zebras' stripes merge when they are set against each other. Robert particularly enjoys the challenge of painting large scale pictures such as this. Although difficult to see from the image above, the texture of fur on the original is fantastic and there is a great play of light across the two zebras which brings out the reddish tinge to their coats. |

| This mallard duck and her ducklings is so endearing. Robert painted this having watched them for hours on a pond at the nearby village of Fridaythorpe. Each little chick had their own character, which Robert has enjoyed putting into the painting. Robert has painted the mother duck with a smooth texture to show off the glossiness of the ducks iridescent feathers. |

Chimpanzees are so interesting to watch and photograph in the wild and this particular one was studied by Robert in Mahale National Park a wonderfully wild and remote place on the shores of Lake Tanginika in Tanzania. The postures that these primates make is so varied that it was difficult to choose one of the many that he photographed. However, this one he liked particularly with it's pensive gaze.

| Roe Deer seem to abound at the moment around Fotherdale Farm, but inspite of this this pair were photographed during the August rutting season on the Isle of Islay of the west coast of Scotland. In August, the fur turns this reddish shade before changing into a thicker dull dark brown colour for winter. |

| Robert's favourite place to watch and photograph Badgers is at Cropton Forest near Pickering, where there has been an active sett for many years. This picture is painted with a mixture of acrylic paint and pencil crayon to give the badgers' coats a soft yet thick and rough texture, which is so characteristic of this well known mammal. |

| This partridge painting was photographed just up the road from Robert's home and studio. There are few English Partridges around Fotherdale Farm, mainly French partridges so this one particularly caught Robert's eye! The partridge was particularly territorial and came right out of the field and onto the track in front of Robert's car to claim his territory. The light was superb that day and Robert has brought this sharp light into the glistening feathers of this magnificient specimen. |
