Walkers along the Wolds Way this summer would be wise to take a short detour off the well beaten track to visit the Robert Fuller Gallery at Thixendale.
This acclaimed wildlife art venue has hit the headlines recently following the wild antics of artist Robert Fuller.
A recognised authority on wildlife, Robert Fuller writes a monthly column for The Yorkshire Post and regularly appears on local television with his favourite feathered friends, the barn owls that he helps to protect throughout the Yorkshire Wolds.
The gallery is home to his exquisite collection of highly detailed oil paintings of creatures from around the world. This year the focus is on attracting wildlife to the garden and he will be revealing his latest collection of paintings of native fauna. Foxes, badgers, otters, pheasants and the inevitable bird of prey all feature.
Learn how the artist gets some of the UK 's shiest creatures to ‘pose' for his paintings and how you can use the same tactics to bring wildlife closer to your own doorstep.
Robert will also be throwing open his doors to his studio so that visitors can see how works.
The exhibition, which takes place at Fotherdale Farm, Thixendale, just a stone's throw from the well-trodden fields of the ‘Wold's Way'. It runs from June 13 th to 28th and is open everyday between 11am and 4.30pm .
