Film | How Films Inform My Wildlife Paintings | My Story

As a wildlife artist & filmmaker, my wildlife films and animal studies inform my detailed paintings. See how the one influences the other in this short film.

Wildlife films & art

Watch the process as I go from field to finished artwork in this short film introducing my work as a wildlife artist and filmmaker. From filming barn owls to badgers, kestrels to puffins out in the field, to the finished paintings, enjoy the process as I turn my wildlife studies into artwork.

Here I focus mostly on British wildlife and show you how the animals that visit my garden often influence my work and how I also develop habitats to get up close to species further afield.

Beautiful, with so much detail & helps conservation efforts.

Sharen,

My happiest place is when I am out in nature, and I am so lucky to live where I do in West Devon, England. My converted cart barn little house, has no traffic passing, and I can lye in my bed and watch Buzzards circling above the trees outside. I get to hear the owls at night, when I take my rescue greyhound Madge out for her walk. I see the Canada Geese come every year to a field just up the country road from me, where there is a wildlife pond, where they bring up their young, and I watch how quickly they grown, and then they are gone. I see deer if I am lucky, and the occasional beautiful fox. I also see magical hares. All this is from my home, as I only go out to walk Madge, or take the recycle and rubbish to the end of the private drive I have right of way over. At night I see so many stars, as there are no street lights here – yes I am so lucky. I wish I could paint like you, and I treasure a hare shoulder bag I bought from you a long time ago, that I use it to take my recycle bottles up to the bin shed. I have also bought your Kingfisher card as a Christmas card to send to folk in the past, as that is the name of my little house. Thank you for your wonderful art work and photography of these precious animals and birds. I paint pottery, but have not done so for a while, so need to get back into it. Blessings to you from Jilly & Madge xxx
