Film | Kestrel narrowly avoids red kite | Discover wildlife

Thankfully Apollo the kestrel has his wits about him and manages to flee before this red kite swoops in.

This male kestrel has a nest at Ashwood, but recently he's been visiting the feeding post here at Fotherdale Farm, where he faces fierce competition for food. Watch the way he suddenly lifts his head when he senses danger and, thankfully, flies away before the red kite swoops down to try and snatch the food. Red kites can be aggressive and will attack kestrels.
