It's summer on the Yorkshire Wolds and all around the countryside is teeming with wildlife, from butterflies to buzzards, badgers to owls, this film shows you the wealth of wildlife to be found around my north Yorkshire home.
Wildflower meadows
The meadows in my garden are buzzing with butterflies, grasshoppers and bees as they feed on the nectar from scabia, knapweed, oxeye daisies and more.
Kestrel & owl chicks
In my home made boxes the barn owl chicks are gaining independence and the six kestrel chicks are already taking to the skies. The tawny owl chicks now live on the branches of nearby trees. Watch them blink down at me from above.
Buzzards
In summer, buzzards are a common sight in Yorkshire as they soar overhead. I found a nest and filmed the chicks from about three weeks old, watching their fluffy down give way to flight feathers and seeing them fly for the first time.
Garden stoats
In my north Yorkshire garden, a wild stoat family are getting quite adventurous. The kits seem to enjoy playing on my children's play equipment and even love having a dip in the paddling pool too.
Badgers
On long summer evenings I always head down to the local badger sett to see who's about. The badger cubs are so funny to watch. It's just amazing to watch so much wildlife so close to home here in Yorkshire.
