Five days after Orion & Celeste's barn owl chicks hatch, it becomes clear that only two chicks have survived. But these owlets are growing well and Orion is delivering plenty of food.

This barn owl pair had four chicks originally, but two sadly did not make it through their first week. It is quite common for weaker chicks to die early on and commonly the adult female will feed them to the remaining chicks. The remaining chicks are healthy. Watch as Orion delivers plenty of prey to the nest - although like most birds of prey he has little clue of how to break up the food and feed it to the chicks.
Glimpsing the owlets
At this age the adult female spends her time brooding the chicks and you don't get much of a view - apart from a head poking through the feathers. But once the oldest chick's eyes open it tries to feed itself. Meanwhile the youngest chick is just about to sit up.
