The invitations to my exhibition have just arrived back from the printers. I’m really pleased with them. Now to deliver them to my wonderful customers!

The event is gearing up to be a really festive experience. I’ve still got a lot of paintings to finish, but this kingfisher perched on a frosted rosehip branch is complete and I think it looks really good on the front of the invitations, don’t you? The theme for this year’s exhibition is a celebration of the way winter allows you to see the best of nature. Although the season is tough for wildlife, it’s a good time to spot animals since they are more focused on finding food and keeping warm than hiding from you. On frosty days, the lighting is also beautifully soft and I can get incredible photographs to paint from.

I’ve booked a number of exciting wildlife events to accompany the exhibition, as you can see from the back of the invitation, pictured above. These include falconry, bird safaris to see winter migrants and red kites as well as an evening talk and slideshow by me on how I use my photographic and video research to inform my paintings. Click here for a link to my website where you can book on these.

My winter wildlife collection includes a painting of a fox poised to pounce into a deep snow drift and studies of hares, their soft brown fur glowing against a harsh winter-white backdrop. Follow this link to my previous blog post on my plans for the show and keep a look out for new posts on how the preparations are getting along.
