Gylfie the barn owl's former partner Finn was a very attentive dad. But sometimes he could be a little 'too' involved as this clip of him disrupting their egg pile shows.
Hapless owl dad
Left alone in the nest, barn owl Finn hears the chick cheeping from inside the egg and clearly feels he must do something. But when he decides to draw the egg closer to him - he drags it away from the rest of the clutch! Thankfully mum Gylfie soon returns to restore order. As Finn retreats, stumbling over the rest of the egg clutch, Gylfie gives him a 'look' before dragging the soon-to-hatch egg safely back under her.

Barn owl Gylfie is a long term resident here at Fotherdale. We've followed her story since 2018 and during that time she's lost two partners. This was Finn, who tragically drowned in a water trough.
