The little owl might be the UK’s smallest owl species, but its possibly the most charismatic! There’s a pair in a nearby valley that I regularly visit to film them from courting, laying and caring for their inquisitive young.

Little owls are the UK's smallest owls. An adult measures just 20cm when standing and the chicks weigh just 10g - they really are tiny balls of fluff! Not strictly a native species, these owls were introduced here in the 19th century. This is a bespoke nest, made especially to attract little owls and they've come to know me so I can film their day to day lives.
