Halloween is a year away, but I've already started filming spiders inside a miniature spooky film set. Watch this for an insight into the work that goes into each film.
Building a set for spiders
I've built a miniature film set inside a perspex box. Inside I've placed a rusty chain, a giant house spider (Eratigena atrica) and a few cellar spiders (Pholcus phalangioides), also known as daddy long-leg spiders. I then shine an Adaptalux light onto the box ceiling. As the shadows move eerily over the wall and across this ceiling they also light up the spiders lurking. This scene will later accompany a shot of me walking into an old shed carrying a lantern. After filming, I let let spiders go, safely back into the shed where I found them.
