Shadow is a first-time dad and this is likely the first time he has seen any chicks at all since he was one himself. His reaction after finding himself alone with his own owlets is priceless - it's as though he needed a moment to process what had just happened. Luna & Shadow's four owlets are around one week old here and mainly cared for by their tawny owl mum Luna. Female tawny owls are very protective of their young and so this meeting of adult male and his chicks is relatively uncommon.
