It's exciting to see a pair of Eurasian jays at the pond I built in Ash Wood. They are a relatively rare sight here - and to watch them raise their crests as they bathe is so special!
Eurasian jay
Jays are strikingly beautiful birds, watch as a pair drop in for a drink and then take turns to bathe. Notice how they raise their crests in the water. Jays will do this when bathing and it's great to see. They also raise them when alarmed or courting - and it can also be a sign of aggression - but here they are just enjoying their bathtime.
Look out for more visits on my ash wood livecam.
