Filming their secret lives
This stoat mum has eight kits, aged around 12 weeks, and they are a lively bunch! But whilst it may look like are just playfull, these stoat kits are actually learning essential life skills. Filmed using cameras hidden inside their nest, watch them wrestle, chase and bite one another - until eventually they fall asleep in a heap. I followed the secret lives of these stoats over generations and got to know each individual. I named this stoat mum 'White Muzzle', see if you can spot why. In this film, her sons are already bigger than she is, but they still suckling.
A stoat star
One of the most boisterous of the kits is actually a female, who I named Bandita. She eventually went on to take over the territory - and became the star of a TV documentary filmed here.
