When a rival swan comes too close to the nest, the female gives chase - right over the eggs!
Swan sees off intruder
This female swan is sitting on 10 eggs. But unbeknown to her, her partner, has been flirting with another female - actually one of their own offspring from their 2023 brood. When the the female swan, or pen, hears her rival close to the nest, she stands up to hiss and posture. Then she gives chase, pursuing the intruder, a swan nicknamed Floppy due to her deformed wing right over the nest, and off across the lake. Thankfully the eggs are unharmed in the ruckus. Watch the male check them before settling down to keep them warm until the pen returns.
