Film | Bath Time at my Wildlife Pond | Discover Wildlife

My wildlife pond is a popular bathing spot. Watch as songbirds, stoats, baby tawny owls and even a sparrowhawk drop in for a splash.

Popular bathing spot

I dug this pond specifically for wildlife and it's been amazing to watch as the animals flock here to drink - but even more spectacular is seeing them splash and bathe in the water. My cameras have recorded over 45 species of bird here. Bluetits, wrens, blackbirds and even pigeons enjoy a dip here during the day, and at night tawny owls regularly come to wash away the dirt. I've even spotted a goshawk cleaning off here! Birds of prey get most of their water from the food they eat, but bathing is essential to keep their feathers in good condition and free from parasites.
